Elwood Rendleman Endicott, 94, of St. Bernice, IN, passed away at 9:45 PM on March 16, 2018 at Union Hospital Terre Haute.  He was born February 27, 1924 in St. Bernice to Thomas Rendle Endicott and Ruby Ellen Maloney Endicott.
He was the youngest of two children.  Elwood attended St. Bernice High School, where he was a member of the basketball team.  On August 24, 1941, he married the love of his life, Clara Louise Cook Endicott, in Morganfield, KY.  She preceded him in death on February 12th of this year.  For a short time, they lived in Chicago, IL where he was employed at the Stevens Hotel, now the Chicago Hilton, where he was an elevator operator.  He also worked at Continental Can.  Upon returning to St. Bernice, he began working for the Milwaukee Railroad, where he worked until his retirement until 1986.  During World War II, he served in the US Army.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a past Worthy Patron of Dana Order of Eastern Star.  Elwood was a member of the First Nazarene Church of St. Bernice, IN, where his name was placed on the Cradle Roll in 1924.  He was an avid reader and always the person to ask if you needed an answer to any questions.  Along with reading and crossword puzzles, he loved sports, especially IU basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Most of all, he fiercely loved his four daughters, thirteen grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.  In his eyes, this was his greatest accomplishment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Evelyn Romaine Endicott; his wife, Clara Louise (Cook) Endicott; his daughter, Cheryl Louise (Weatherman); step-brother, Charles Bramlett; and a nephew, Tommy Endicott.
He is survived by his son-in-law, Bill Weatherman of Clinton; daughters, Saundra (Steve) Kaufman of Clinton, Leigh Ann (Earl) Vogel of Terre Haute, and Aimee (Nic) Bruns of Wheaton, Il; grandchildren, Lisa (Clint) Davis, Kristi Evans, Dieter (Jocelyn) Kaufman, Kathy Kaufman, Erika (Joe) Mrdja, Jon (Dawn) Kanizer, Jody (Missy) Kanizer, David (Sarah) Kanizer, Amanda Carroll, Khara (Michael) Bond, Ryan (Carla) Reynolds, Kailey Bruns, and Nicolaus Bruns; great-grandchildren, Lee Davis, Riley Davis, Keely Davis, Richie Evans, Jordan Evans, Christopher (Kayla) Evans, Brynlee Kaufman, Dawson Mrdja, Grady Mrdja, Ashton Mrdja, Edith Louise Mrdja, Zachary (Christina) Kanizer, Lauren Kanizer, Emilee Kanizer, Abigail Kanizer, Victoria Kanizer, Cole Kanizer, Madelyn Kanizer, Tyler Kanizer, Hayden Kanizer, Olivia Kanizer, Nicholas Goar, Gavin Goar, Claire Wills, Karinne Bond, Kaitlyn Bond, Khari Bond, Kaiden Reynolds, and Hadley Reynolds; great-great-grandchildren, Bowden Evans, Berkley Evans, Brandon Kanizer, Hunter Kanizer, Karson Kanizer, Charlee Leann Kanizer, and Madison Kanizer; brother, Tommy (Dorothy) Endicott of St. Bernice; step-sister, Betty Underwood of Colorado; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Tammy Austen of Hands That Serve.  And to Tamika, Nicole, Laura, Keisha, Kenya, Meghan, Regina, Pat, Connie, Madison, Angel, and Kayla, we appreciate your kindness and care that you have provided for our parents.  You are forever loved and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM on Wednesday at Frist Funeral Home.  Services will be 11:30 AM on Thursday at the First Nazarene Church of St. Bernice, with Reverend Garrett Lee officiating, with visitation from 10:30-11:30 at the church.  Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.  Military honors will be performed.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.  Online condolences may be made at www.fristfuneralhome.com.
