John C. Asher, 78, of Clinton died at 6:28 AM January 3, 2017 in his residence.  He was born April 22, 1938 in Quincy, IN to Dale Asher and Mae Smith Asher.  He was a retired welder from JI Case.  He was a 1955 graduate of Gosport High School and a US Army Veteran.  
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #140 in Clinton.  He had served five years as the commander of the Legion.  He was a former governor for the Moose Lodge #1501 in Clinton where he earned the Fellowship degree in 1992.  He was a lifetime member of the One-Half Century Club where he had held many offices.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue; and one son, Larry.  
He is survived by two daughters, Pam and Danny Blackburn and Patricia and James Orndorff; two sons, Steve and Lori Asher and David Asher; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 PM at Frist Funeral Home.  Services will be 4 PM Saturday at Frist with Reverend Dan King officiating.  Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery with Military Honors.
