John W. Acord “Cotty”, 68, of Clinton died February 21, 2017 in his residence.  He was born December 12, 1948 in Danville, IL to John and Wanda Carrigan Acord.
He was a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a retired electrician.  He was a member of the VFW #6653 and the American Legion #140.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Pam Acord.  
He is survived by his wife, Patty; children, Brian and Stacey Acord; Tonya Acord; Tracy Hancock and Grant, Eric Burgess, and Patty Clore and husband, Jeremiah; grandchildren, Ashleigh Stevens and Mark, Courtney Hancock, Alex Hancock, Brayden Llewellyn, Maykala Acord, Reece Berry, and Brice Acord; brothers, Jack and Karla Acord, Jeff Acord, Deb and Lee Call, Kelly and Russ Graham, Shonna Acord and Erin, and Melanie Lester; and his best friend, Bob Godden.
Cremation was chosen.  There will be a Celebration of Life from 12-2 PM on February 25th at Frist Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Jeffers officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. Online condolences may be made at www.fristfuneralhome.com.

I knew John from high school. we could have been friends, but circumstances didn't come about. I am grieved to hear of his passing. I will remember John as a fellow from the south end of Clinton as I was. My sincere condolences.
