John P. Abner, 70, of Crompton Hill, passed away on February 26, 2018, at Clinton Gardens.
He was born on June 9, 1947, in Clinton, to James E. Abner and Betty Gray.  He married Carolyn  Jean Smith of Crompton Hill in 1968.  His first son, John J. Abner, was born in 1971 followed by Daniel B. Abner in 1975.  His triplet grandsons, Daniel, Lane, and Sam were born in 2003.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean Abner;  children, John J. Abner and Daniel B. Abner; triplet grandsons, Daniel, Lane, and Sam Abner; and sisters, Katie Brown and Nancy Ferris.
John worked for 33 years in the paper industry and retired from the Inland Container paper mill in 2000.
John was a master fisherman, deadeye squirrel and mushroom hunter, avid storyteller, and proud resident of the Hill for all of his adult life.  In retirement he loved taking annual fishing trips to Canada with his cousin, Tony Guinn, and watching his grandsons shoot up like weeds.
A celebration of John’s life is scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2018  from 1 to 3 pm at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman Street, Clinton, IN 47842.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society and/or Nature Conservancy of Indiana.
