I am very to hear of the passing of Mr Mooney. I had the pleasure of having him as teacher many years back. He was one of my favorites as his teaching was educational but fun. A great teacher.

Unfortunately I often received the paddle from him Haha.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Mooney. I was a student of his when he taught at Lab School. I truly enjoyed his classes and often think of him when I reminisce of my young years attending Lab School. What a great educator he was. My condolences to all his family and friends. Rest In Peace Mr. Mooney and thank you for all the fond memories.

To the Mooney family,

I am so sorry to hear this news and please accept my thoughts, prayers, and condolences at this time.

I experienced Mr. Mooney's teaching only one year - for 9th grade biology at the University School in 1982/83. But that one year with Mr. Mooney had a huge impact on my education and future. More than the substance of the class, which was thorough, enlightening, and always vibrantly entertaining, Mr. Mooney instilled a sense and understanding of academic rigor - the idea of high expectations and merit for work done well and properly. For young students and for all who had the privilege to study in one of Mr. Mooney's classes, these were invaluable lessons - both educationally and as well in life. He expected and demanded that we put forth our best work for each exam and each project. And goodness was he clear when we did not live up to his expectations. From Stan Evans to Judy Grimes to Bill Mooney to William Johnston and others, it was a great time to be at the University School. The quality of teaching was incredibly strong and the environment was rich and creative.

Thank you, Mr. Mooney.

Rest in peace.

To the family of Mr. Mooney, I offer my sincere condolences on his passing. I was a Lab School student and immensely enjoyed him as a person and a teacher. He and my Father, Bill Johnston, worked together for many years there, so I kept up with him through my Dad. I feel fortunate to have had known him. May his memory console you in his absence.

Mr. Mooney was a great teacher and funny! I remember dissecting a frog and basically destroying the poor thing. Mr. Mooney made me promise to never become a surgeon. And I never did:). Great advice Mr. Mooney! You will be missed.

Bill was always fun to be with. I remember being invited to his family home in Universal where his super mom would treat us to wonderful Italian dishes that I had never had before. Thank you Bill for the times we had on the basketball team and those special times we shared in friendship.

Dear Betty & Family...Sending our sympathy and support through this difficult time. May you find comfort in your memories. Jim appreciated the opportunity to work with Bill at ISU Recreational Sports. He taught racketball and promoted intramural racketball tournaments. Bill was an excellent teacher and developed a tremendous following and interest in the sport of racketball.

Dear Betty & Bart, along with the Office of Campus Recreation I offer you my heartfelt condolences. Bill was such fun to work with and was a mentor to me. My fondest memories though were how he took to my two boys, Chris & Connor. They both went to his Summer Science School and I remember the caving field trips. My prayers for you all.
