Ruth Little Kirkham, born December 15, 1923, passed peacefully on September 1, 2018, at her home in Noblesville, IN.  Her son, daughter, and granddaughter, were with her.
Ruth was the owner of Kirkman’s Fashion Shop in Clinton, IN for thirty-six years.  A devastating fire on New Year’s Eve, 1981, consumed her retail business, which was a big loss for the community.

Commerce and served many years on the Board.  Ruth was a member, past President and Treasurer of the Clinton Public Library Board; charter member and past Treasurer of the Vermillion County Hospital Foundation, as well as manager of the Hospital Guild Gift Shop for six years; and supporter and volunteer for Lift for many years.
Ruth’s other areas of involvement included past President and member of Delta Theta Tau; a fifty year member of Eastern Star; member of the Daughters of the Nile and its Dancing Unit;  past Guardian of Job’s Daughters Bethel #54; and Brownie Troop Leader in the early 1960’s.  She was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IN and Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, Sun City West, AZ.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of fifty-three years, Wakefield P. Kirkman, and her sister, Marie Black.
She is survived by her son, Kent Kirkman, of Cicero IN, and her daughter, Kim, of Nicasio, CA.  She also leaves her grandchildren, Cameron Wallach, San Rafael, CA; Sydney Wallach, Ashland, OR; and Zion Wallach, Santa Barbara, CA.  Also surviving is her sister, Edith Smith, Clinton, IN; her sister, Pat Blackburn, Columbus, IN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on September 14, 2018, at the Chapel in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Clinton.  Visitation with the family will be at 12:30 pm and service to begin at 1 pm with interment of the cremains to follow.

Kim,Kent, and families: We remember your mom and dad very fondly. Still remember going into Kirkmans on many occasions to have Ruth help me select a gift for my mom. She and your Dad were wonderful people and certainly were good friends to my folks. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless each of you as you go through this time of celebrating Ruth’s life.

Ruth was such a classy lady. I will always remember the many things I learned from having the opportunity to work in Kirkman's Fashion Store. She was a role model for many. I am sorry for your loss. Ruth was such a treasure. Main street has never been the same without her and the store. With heartfelt sympathy.
