Sharon Marlene Hawkins, 68, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away Monday Nov. 12, 2018, in Bradenton. She was born in Clinton on May 10, 1950 to Benjamin Jones, Jr. and Norma Jane Mattick Jones. She grew up in Lyford; she also resided in Clinton and Terre Haute, and moved to Florida late in life.

Survivors include one daughter, Kari Anne (Terry) Hawkins-Groberg of Sarasota, one brother David (Ernestine) Jones of Montezuma and two sisters Shirley Ann (Jim) Bedino of Las Vegas, NV and Sandra (Scott) Vana of Reynolds, step-granddaughter, Jess Groberg, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She worked at Columbia House beginning in 1968 and retired as a Computer Programmer Systems Analyst after 38 years.

She was a talented musician who played the piano well. As a youth she performed as a majorette and a cheerleader at Rosedale High School. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and granddogs, Maggie and Lucy, and playing games.

Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, Nov. 16 at Frist Funeral Home in Clinton. Her memorial service of a life well-lived will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 17, also at the Frist Funeral Home in Clinton. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton following the service. The procession to the cemetery will form at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M.

I am sadden to hear about your loss. I hope that you draw closer as a family and that you draw closer to our Heavenly Father. He promises to help relieve your pain with the future promises to reunite us with those whom we have lost (Revelation 21:3,4 and John 5:28,29).

So sorry to hear about my friend Sharon. I have known her since 1968, when she started at Columbia House until I retired in 2001. She was a good friend and business associate for all those many years.. Truly a good person and, I was proud to have known her.. Rest in peace, my friend..
