Arthur S. Nowling, 91, of Clinton, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Mecca, IN, to Frank Nowling and June Wann Nowling on January 28, 1927.
He worked  for Public Service as a lineman and serviceman for 41 years.  He was a World War ll Veteran of the US Army.  He graduated from Mecca High School in 1945.
He was a member of the Jerusalem #99 F&AM Lodge, Past Master, the York Rite Knights Templar,  the Commandry, Royal Arch Masons # 125, the Order of  Purple Cross,  and Past Worthy Patron of Order of Eastern Star.  He also was a member of the First Christian Church in Clinton where he was an elder, deacon, trustee, and Chairman of the Board.  Art also was President of and coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joe Nowling; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Simpson Nowling.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Nowling; 2 sons, Mike (Valerie) Nowling of Fort Wayne, and Robert Nowling of Peru, IN.; a sister, Mary Jane McDowell of Mecca; 4 brothers, Don (Karen) Nowling of Waynetown, John Nowling of Mecca, Kenny Nowling of Indianapolis, and Karl Nowling of Indianapolis;l 4 grandchildren, Sean (Elizabeth Gattman) Nowling, Michael (Sarah) Nowling, Ashley (Pete) Yoder, and Tyler Yoder; 6 great-grandchildren, Ethan , Elliot ,and Emilia Yoder, and James, Finn, and Naomi Nowling; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm at Frist Funeral Home.  Masonic services will be held at 7:30 pm.  Funeral Services will be on Saturday, December 29 at 10:30 am with Pastor Larry Kelsheimer officiating.  Military honors will be performed.  Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Worship Anew: (a religious services for shut-ins) or to the First Christian Church of Clinton or Great Lakes Hospice Care.

Very fond memories of all of you Nowlings. Art was such a kind man. Mary Ruth, you are in my prayers. My father, Bud Parker, passed away several years ago. I will let Mom know about Art. (Mary Parker Haskin).
