Phyllis Rose Scott (maiden name Shew), 71, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, surrounded by loved ones, on November 16th, of 2019 at Regional Hospital of Terre Haute. She was born on December 2nd of 1947, in Clinton, IN, to Howard and Helen Shew (maiden name Festa) of Univeral, IN. Phyllis is survived by siblings Edwina Gantt (maiden name Shew), Jack (Lori) Shew, Frank (Vickie) Shew, and Ed Shew.
Phyllis is also survived by her beloved husband Darrell Scott. They were married in Marshall, IL on August 10th of 1968. She is survived by her children Tammy Scott(Brad)Buker, Gina Delanois (maiden name Scott), Wendy Oliveri (Brian Strayer) & Eddie (Lisa) Scott; Her grandchildren Stephen(Rachel)Buker, Ashley Buker (Jacob) Knoblett, Scotty Buker, Cody Scott, Cole Delanois, Samantha Scott, Nicolas Oliveri, Damon Scott & Chase Scott; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rick Shew.
Phyllis touched all people that came to know her, and spread her warm, loving energy wherever she went. She did not know a stranger. She loved the sunshine and had a green thumb like no other. She would cook amazing meals that would feed an army, even on a normal day “just in case” someone would stop by, they would be well fed. She would love a good read to help her relax. She loved taking car rides with her husband to grab a fountain Pepsi (with extra ice) and to go wherever the roads took them that day. but most importantly, her joy primarily came from being with her grand & great-grandchildren, which is why we call her Nanny. She will be greatly missed by many, but will remain in our hearts forever.
“You are a child of God, you are wonderfully made, dearly loved and precious in his sight.” –Psalm 139

My sympathy to all of the Shew family. I spent many wonderful hours with them as a child growing up in Universal and my life was greatly enriched by those experiences. Phyllis and I were classmates and thus had an additional connection. Although I have lived away and been out of touch for many years I was happy to read of the loving and satisfying life that Phyllis had lived and of the many lives that she had touched.

May warm memories sustain you all and may you find strength and peace in the days ahead.
