I forget how long I have known John. About 20 years maybe? Seems like forever and it wasn't long enough. We worked very closely together on various projects for about 10 of those years. We became good friends and I enjoyed being around him. I came to love his family as well. In all my life, I have met a few people with integrity, faith, a love of family, a love of friendship and a solid work ethic. John was one of those people. I will miss him.

I've know John since coming to Carrier. He was always friendly and genuine. He was quick to share a story, and always asked how things were going. I enjoyed my interactions with him, and will miss seeing him. He is already missed.

I met John in December 2016 when he interviewed me for the Administrative Asst. position for EHS Dept. at Carrier. I knew in my interview what kinda person he was, sincere, honest, and loyal with a great sense of humor. He was the best Manager I ever had, he always had my back, giving me encouraging words, along with some funny stories. John was always lifting me up never tearing me down. Its with deep sadness I say goodbye to my friend.
Ride on John...Ride on...

I have known John through our mutual safety affiliations for several years and always counted him as a great friend. He was always willing to share his knowledge, guidance and I valued the mentoring that he provided, along with his quick wit and warm smile. Be at peace my friend.

John was one of the first persons I met when moving to the Indianapolis area. I was new to US safety requirements and he became a mentor to me. That friendship lasted 20 plus years. My sincere condolences to Lori, John, Stephanie and to other family members. John was a great person.

To the Purdy Family,
I am at a loss to find the right words to comfort you at this time, for there simply are no words. Perhaps if I share my memory of John with you it will provide comfort. I went to high school with John, and all throughout our years together he was always so very kind to me. I never forgot John’s kindness as it meant so much to me then and even today, 40 years later. As I read through the condolences posted, I see how John’s friendship and kindness extended to many. We remember him fondly. Please except my deepest condolences on your loss.
