I had the pleasure of calling Ernie a friend. He was a year behind me in school. We would always talk sports. Big Ern was one of the nicest people I have ever met and always had a smile on his face. He dedicated his life to make people better and mine is better for calling him a friend. Rest is peace, pal, you will be greatly missed.

Ernie was one of those people that you never forget. Unfortunately it had been awhile since we spoke but it seems like yesterday when we took the trip to Notre Dame football camp prior to our senior year. His leadership, passion, and heart has left a lifetime impression on me. Often times I have reflected on our talks as adults. His perspective towards life was awesome. So sorry for the loss Ms. Simpson. Rest in peace Ernie, you will not be forgotten.

Mrs. Simpson,
My thoughts are with you. Ernie was one of the most affable and genuine people even as kids. Have smiled a couple times this week thinking of you taking us to things like PowerTeam USA or the NBA Draft. He’ll be missed but always remembered.

Ernie was one of my best friends in a tight-knit group of guys growing up. Ill never forget the nights we spent together hanging out on North 3rd, going to Baseball games together, visiting him at Franklin, and running those horrible sprints with him while he prepared to play college football. He was such a genuine person who always saw the best in people and was always the first one to help any of us if we needed him. He was always there for me and although he was a few years younger I always looked up to and admired the person that Ernie was. I am so sorry for your loss Mrs. Simpson. Just know that Ernie had a huge impact on anyone that knew him and the type of person that we all should strive to be. Ill miss you forever Ernie and I am so lucky to have had you in my life.
