Bonnie Ruth Kratzer, 96, of Clinton, IN invited the angels into her home on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
Ruth grew up on a farm in rural Illinois with her parents, Ben and Molly Smith, seven brothers and one sister. She moved later to Terre Haute and with her husband, Dave, worked and raised a family of her own.  Ruth was the office manager for many years at 7-Up Bottling Company and later at Paige’s Music Store.
After retirement Dave and Ruth spent their time traveling. They enjoyed years of “island hopping” and later traveled more leisurely through the states in an RV. Ruth loved to share the fun and flavor of their trips by purchasing truckloads of souvenirs to share with kids and grandkids.
Grandma Ruth was well loved by family and friends, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Bonita Ave (Basil) of Clinton, IN; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Kratzer of Omro, WI; brother, Dave Smith (Pat), Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Eleanor Hadley Hot Springs, AR and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her well-loved grandchildren Danelle Giannini, LiAnne Morales, Derek Kratzer, Stephanie Longyear, Jon Williams, Paul Williams, David Kratzer, Elizabeth Martin, Troy Ave, Neil Buddle and Rebecca Kokubun. Ruth has many great grandchildren and one spoiled cat who will also sorely miss her.
She is pre-deceased by her husband of 57 years, David Kratzer, and her sons Dennis J. Kratzer and Daniel D. Kratzer.
Family and friends will come together in June to celebrate and share stories of Ruth’s amazing life.
Services will be held for the family and close friends at Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, on Saturday, May 22, 2021, with Reverend Scott Longyear officiating. Visitation is from 1pm to 2pm with services immediately following at 2pm. Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
