Arthur Donald Blackford

Arthur “Donnie” Blackford, 82, of Clinton, Indiana passed away on Monday July 10, 2023, at his home after fighting a battle with lung cancer.

Don was born on December 19, 1940, in Lynnville, Indiana to James Arthur Blackford and Edna Lillian (Jenkins) Blackford, both parents precede him in death.

He married Linda Kay (Chadd) Blackford on February 24, 1963, she preceded him in death.

He is survived by three children, James Blackford (Dana) of Young Harris, Georgia, Tammy Hinkle (Steve) of Clinton, Indiana and Connie Blackford (Brian Cox) of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters Joann Beard of Newburg and Jalene Schafer (Bob) of Chandler; brother-in-law David Chadd (Shirley) of Columbus, sister-in-law Janice Chadd of Santa Rosa Beach; three grandchildren, Nikki Mayhew (Zach), Ross Hinkle (Rachel Parker) and Dalton Hinkle (Mandy); Four great grandsons, Hayden Hinkle, Karter Hinkle, Briar Hinkle, and Wayne Hinkle; and several nephews and nieces.

Don Served 3 ½ years in the Army. He worked 36 years for Peabody Coal and 10 years at Geneva Hill Golf Course. He was a hard worker, he enjoyed golfing. He liked to fish, play cards, and hunt mushrooms and golf balls. He and his wife loved to travel. They lived in Eagle Pass, Texas for a year for Don’s work and made a lot of great memories. He loved his family and friends.

Visitation will be at Frist Funeral Home on Thursday July 13, 2023, from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Service begins at 12:00pm with Brad Baysinger officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
