Betty A. (Smith) Straw

Betty A. Straw, 83, of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

She was born in Clinton, Indiana on March 11, 1942, to George Smith and Monica (Betty) Gooch Smith, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather Edmund Hiddle, Jr.

Betty retired from Eli Lilly after more than 25 years of employment. She will be remembered most by her great sense of humor, her generosity and her strength.

Those left behind to remember Betty are her daughters, Betty Hatheway-Rausch of Clinton, Shelly Virtue of Frankfort, and Georgia Beckman (Bob) of Grayville IL; brothers, Bob Smith, Bill Smith (Rebecca), George Smith (Jenny), all of Clinton, and sister, Mary Kay Marietta (Kevin) of Liberty Township, Ohio; grandchildren, Lance Milam (Danielle), Austin Milam, William McMillan, Jamie Douglas (Logan), Blake Myers, Drew Myers, Joshua Beckman, Jerrad Beckman (Jennifer), Sarah Jordan (Jeff) and Katy Beckman; along with many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Honoring Betty’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and there will be no service.
