Charles E. “Bob” Howard, 84, of Clinton, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born in Pleasantville, IN on July 21, 1937, to Mona Jean Mitchell and Robert Wiseman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mona Jean Mitchell; his father, Robert Wiseman; and his bonus Mom, Gladys Wiseman. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Barbara Jean Stephens; his mother and father-in-law, Herb and Ruth Donald; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diana and Terry Brown; a brother-in-law Don Howlett; and special pet dogs, Rachel, Betsy, and Joey.
He is survived by this loving wife, Judy Donald Howard, whom he married 61 years ago in Clinton; his children, Ruthie (Rogger) Griffin of Rockville, Brenda Thomas of Indiana, and Chip and Tammi Howard of Clinton; six grandchildren, Rebecca Lohse, Ben Thomas, Charla Sheley, Marcy Aldrich, Levi Campbell, and Heather Buechele; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, LeeAnn (Steve) Nickless of Farmersburg and Darla Howlett of Crawfordsville; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Jean Donald of Clinton; brother-in-law Herbie (Jackie) Donald of Clinton; several nieces and nephews; his church family and many other friends; and his precious fur baby, Dolly.
Bob was a kind and gentle man who cared deeply about others. He was a member of the Rio Grand Full Gospel Church, where he was praise and song leader for many years. He played in several local bands as vocalist and guitarist, sang for many weddings and funerals, and loved going to local nursing homes to sing and pray with the residents.
He retired from Frist Funeral Home in recent years. He will be greatly missed by many. He is now singing with the angels in Heaven.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, from 11:00-2:00 PM, at Frist Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with Sam Ball and Marta Adubato officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Parke-Vermillion Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
