Colonel Bruce Alan Starkey, 75 of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Danville, Illinois on January 26, 1949, to Eston and Patricia Gunion Starkey who precede Bruce in death.
Bruce married his wife Brenda Abernathy Starkey on November 4, 1972. They shared 51 years together. She survives him. Also surviving are his daughters Ronda (Justin) Voorhees of Seale, AL., Michel Starkey of Terre Haute, and Tiffany Heaton of Terre Haute; a sister Sandee (Tom) Frey of Covington, brothers Patrick Starkey of Covington, Terry (Nancy) Starkey of Jacksonville, FL., and Timothy Starkey of Veedersburg; special family friend Preston White; seven grandchildren: Braeden Heaton, Kamryn Starkey, Henri Porteu, Gabriella Tanoos, Aubree Heaton, Abram Voorhees and Knox Voorhees and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce served in the United States Army Reserve for over 30 years. He was a parishioner of the Clinton First United Methodist Church since 1980. He belonged to the Masons, Shriners, and the Scottish Rite. He worked most of his life managing various concrete block plants. Bruce loved working on his ’55 Chevrolet and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be at Clinton First United Methodist Church on Saturday October 26, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until service begins at 4:00 p.m. Military honors will be prior to service. Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in memory of Bruce.
