David Dowdy, 76, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
David was born May 1, 1945 to Hobart Dowdy and Ruby McCullough Dowdy in Clinton, Indiana.
David was a veteran of the United States Army. He was actively involved in his church, serving as deacon and treasurer. David was also a member of the American Legion Post #777.
David is preceded in death by both parents, Ruby and Hobart Dowdy; one brother, Jerry Dowdy; sister-in-law, Jane Dowdy; nephew, Mike Dowdy; niece Kerry Wright, brother-in-law, Chuck Cartwright; great-nephew, David Wright; Life partner, Greg Simms of Paris, IL.
He is survived by two sisters, Pat Cartwright of Clinton, Terry (Jim) Laney of Clinton; nieces and nephews, Kimberly (Jim) Everhart, Lori (David) Jacobs, Tracy Walker Bovair, Toni (Josh) Bolen, Mickey (Christine) Wright, and Carol Dowdy; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends.
Cremation was chosen by family. A service for David will be held at a future date.
