Esther Mae Shepard, 90, years old of Clinton passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Clinton Gardens.

She was born in Mecca, Indiana on March 10, 1934, to Robert Doan and Eva Lawson.

Esther has been a grade school reading teacher at Ernie Pyle Elementary School, and she also worked for several years at ABC Nursery School. She loved children. Esther never met a stranger and was a friend to all and a grandma to everyone. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Esther was preceded in death by her father Robert Doan, mother Eva (Lawson) Moore, son Michael Gossett, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Those left to remember Esther are her Husband Martin Shepard of Clinton, son Bob Gossett of Clinton, daughters: Debbie Ackerly (Thom) of Indianapolis, and Marti Sue Cobble (Larry) of Clinton, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at the Clinton Gardens Cottage Unit: Teresa, Tiffany, Neveah, and Amanda as well as nurse April and Chaplain Chris with Gentiva Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Esther.

Visitation will be at Frist Funeral Home on Sunday March 9, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Service will be on Monday March 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Rissler officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Esther.
