George A. Yates, 75, of Clinton, died June 10th, 2022, at 1:34 PM, in Union Hospital Terre Haute. He was born November 22, 1946, in Shepardsville to James Z. Yates and Estella G Yates.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion #140, Half-Century Club, Eagles #887, and 40&8, Marine Corps League of Terre Haute, the DAV Chapter Nomad#52, Montezuma Fish & Game, VFW #6574, and Indiana Sheriff’s Association. He had served two tours of Vietnam in the US Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred, Art, Thomas “Squeak”, Dave and Gary Yates; and sisters, Betty Hux, Nancy Jones, Linda Yesley, and Dorothy Yates.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lowry Yates whom he married January 15, 2010; his sons, Eric Yates Sr. and Maria of Clinton, Jason and Shari Lowry of Clinton, and Mike Lowry of Florida; a daughter, Renee Yates of Clinton; grandchildren, Desiré Yates of Terre Haute, Jaid Yates of West Terre Haute, Kathleen, Anthony, and Eric Yates Jr., all of Clinton, Shawn, Kynlynn, and Lincoln Lowry of Clinton, Kenzie, Kayli and Kobe Lowry of Terre Haute, and Mallorie Morgan of Clinton; a brother James “Jake” and Marie Yates of Clinton; and sisters, Theresa “Susie” Dowell of Shepardsville, and Ruth Ann Meeks of Kentucky.
Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 PM on Wednesday at Frist Funeral Home, with services to begin at 1:00 PM, with Marta Adubato officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
