Ira Joe Jones

Ira Joe Jones, 81, of Dana, passed away on Saturday June 3, 2023, at Harrison Crossing in Terre Haute, IN.

He was born in St. Bernice, IN on September 17, 1941, to Harold Jones and Iva Boyd Jones.

Ira was a graduate of St. Bernice High School Class of 1959. He married Karen Stewart Jones on November 16, 1962. He retired from Duke Energy. He was a member of IBEW Local #1393. Ira was involved in many things in and around the community. He was a member of Jerusalem #99 F & AM, former member of Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine where he also served on the Board of Governors at St. Louis, MO. for the Shriners. He transported children to The Shriners Hospital for a total of 183 trips. Ira was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, former member of the Dana Town Board, he served 30 plus years on the Vermillion County Park Board, former South Vermillion School Board member, and former Precinct Committeeman for Vermillion County.

Preceding Ira in death are his parents, infant brother Walter and three sisters Bonnie Trezise, Barbara Nunn, and Betty Sutton.

Ira is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen Jones of Dana, IN., son Jeff Jones of Dana, IN., daughters Shelly Smith (Brian) of Dana, IN., and Marcy Conrad (Terry) of Terre Haute, IN., his seven grandchildren Allison Boyke (Andy), Ashley Curts (Andy), Nicole McKnight (Toby), Chelsi Zoller (Jay), Aaron Conrad (Iris), Chloe Jones (Andrew Smith) and Chelsea Conrad; eleven great grandchildren Shawn McKnight, Rosalyn McKnight, Kris Stewart, Maddie Curts, Eli Boyke, Kayla Boyke, Lane Zoller, Christian Zoller, Lilly Anna Smith, Willow Smith and Oliver Conrad, special family Candy Brown and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Frist Funeral Home on Thursday June 8, 2023, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with the Masonic Service at 7:00pm. Funeral Service will be at Frist Funeral Home on Friday June 9, 2023, at 11:00am with Rev. Leon Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Bono Cemetery.
