James Frederick “Fred” Banks, 94, of Clinton passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. Born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 17, 1930, to Fred Lawton Banks and Lola Holmes Banks who precede him in death along with his infant sister Dorothy Jane, sister Betty Berling and brother Robert Banks, niece Brenda Herrick, brother-in-law Jim Berling and sister-in-law Phyllis Banks.

Fred was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 1949. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran having served his country during the Korean war. Fred married Barbara Benetti Banks on August 28, 1955, at the Frist Christian Church in Clinton, they shared 69 years together. Fred retired from Mike’s Motor Company in Clinton where he worked as a car salesman and received several awards from The Chrysler Corporation. He was a charter member of the Clinton Jaycees as well as a member of the Blanford Sportsman Club, American Legion Post 140, and the VFW. Fred was a Dodge/Chrysler man through and through, he loved his cars and the more chrome the better.

Those left to remember Fred are his wife Barbara Banks, children Jim Banks (Debby) and Jeanna Bumgardner (Doug), grandchildren: Erin Bumgardner and Fiancé Cody Brown, Daniel Banks (Hanna), and Dylan Banks (Maria); great-grandchildren: Barron, Rowan and Brady Banks; niece Joan Bryan, Nephews Michael Ruffattola, Mark Berling, and Stephen Banks along with numerous friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be at First Funeral Home on Friday February 28, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday March 1, 2025, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute.
