James Harvey “Grizz” Spencer, 69, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022, at 7:55 a.m. at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN surrounded by his family.
He was born December 18, 1952, in Racine, WI to Betti and Harvey Spencer who precede him in death.
He enjoyed nature, fishing, hunting, farming, working, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion 108.
Jim was a jack-of-all-trades and worked several jobs. He worked at Road Construction, Zenith, Unarco, Ivy Hill, Paris Transport, Roskovensky Ready Mix, Crop Production and Ceres Solutions. He also enjoyed farming for Scott Farms, Heelen Farms, Barrett Farms, Fortner Farms, Holbert Farms and Dyer Farms.
He is survived by his wife Marsha Newton Spencer who he married on June 24, 1989. His daughter Jami Spencer (Joe Varvel) of St. Bernice; his sons Jeremiah Spencer (Brandi Worthington) of Metcalf, IL, and Chad Spencer (Stephanie) of New York. Also surviving are his brother Roger Spencer of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; sisters Marilyn Daugherty (Bob), Bettilu Schauller (Gary) and Linda Moore (Brian) all of Wisconsin.
Jim leaves a legacy of grandchildren Bailey Miller, Cassidy Spencer, Kimberly Spencer, Christopher Spencer, Ryleigh Spencer, James Workman, Luke Worthington, Joe Joe Varvel, and Celia Varvel, as well as several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church in St. Bernice on Saturday November 26, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
Cremation was chosen.
