John E. “Jack” Farrington, 80, of Universal, passed away on Thursday October 20, 2022, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born on September 29, 1942, in Melrose Park, IL to Edward Farrington and Albina Gugliemelmetti Farrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Albina.
Survivors include his wife Patty Farrington, his sons Tom Farrington (Carol), Chris Farrington (Tina) and Dan Farrington (Brandee); his brothers Bill Farrington (Sharon) and Mike Farrington (Linda); Sister-in-law Sandra McCauley (Donnie); his four grandchildren Liz Farrington (Paul), Austin Farrington (Emily), Jacob and Matthew Farrington; his two great grandchildren Tyler and Kalder Farrington and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was a graduate of the Clinton High School class of 1960 and continued his education achieving an associates degree from Ivy Tech Community College. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving for nearly twenty-three years; Jack was also retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for twenty years; he was a member of the Clinton township advisory board and the Universal town board; he was a member St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Paris, IL.
Jack was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending as much time with his family as possible, always ensuring he was present for every important milestone and event no matter the distance. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy. Jack never met a stranger.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Frist Funeral Home on Saturday October 29, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by military honors and remembrances by the family.
Cremation was chosen.
