John "Jack" Reeder Obituary


John “Jack” W. Reeder, 94, of Danville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at home, surrounded by loving family.

John was born to John Wesley and Ruth Reeder on May 5, 1927 in Clinton, Indiana.

John was a graduate of Clinton High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII. While serving, he delightfully played the clarinet in the Army’s band in Berlin, Germany.

After serving, John continued his education, graduating from Purdue University, becoming a well-liked and respected pharmacist. He worked at Harding Pharmacy in Danville for many years.

John was known to be active and liked to exercise at the YMCA. And he enjoyed having coffee with his friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Alice Hurlow; brothers, Jim and Bill Reeder.

He is survived by his lifelong friend Nancy Holler of Danville, IL; honorary daughters, Pamela Flaningam of St. Joseph, IL, and Christina Lockhart (Tom) of Danville, IL; niece, Penny Hurlow of Lebannon, IN; nephews, Tony Reeder (Darlene) of Rockville, IN, John (Gina) Hurlow of Clinton, IN; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many honorary grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute with Marta Adubato officiating.
