Joyce Irene Fruits West Barr, 93, of Terre Haute passed away at 10:00 a.m. Monday June 17, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

She was born in Rockville, Indiana on June 18, 1930, to Omer Fruits and Alma (Miller) Fruits who precede her in death. Also, preceding Joyce in death are her husband Cecil A. West, sister Nancy Irvin and grandson Jeffrey Scott.

Joyce was a graduate of Waynetown High School class of 1948. She liked to collect salt and pepper shakers, teacups, Christmas decorations, glassware, and all kinds of bears. Joyce had many dogs over the course of her life all of which she loved so much.

Joyce is survived by her son Michael E. West (Chirl), daughters Debbie L. Harper (Steve), Dianna L. Scott (Kenny) and Beverly Jo West (Darrell), brother Keith Fruits (Karen), sister Sue Spence, brother-in-law Joe Irvin (Tina), grandchildren Kenneth Scott (Kara), Lorrie Edwards (Doug), Brandy Short (Aaron), Mike West (Lorry), Kristy Hux (Tom), Chris and Chad Glaze, great-grandchildren Samantha Molinar (Matthew), Perry Rae and Mikel West, Destiny, Savannah, Aubrey, Tatum, and Kody Scott, Nickolas and Luken Edwards, Hailey and Maxwell Short, Brady, Abby and Korey Nestler, and Desiree Glaze, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog and faithful companion Cheyenne.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice, her primary nurse Hailey, aide Lacey, and social worker Laura as well as her personal caregiver Amy. All your time and extra care are greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be held at Frist Funeral Home Saturday June 22, 2024, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. Service at 2:00 with Pastor Larry Kelsheimer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Montezuma.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society in memory of Joyce.
