Lee Avenatti Obituary

The world became a little less bright with the passing of Davey Lee Avenatti, Jr., 70, of Clinton, IN on October 31st. Lee was a devoted and supportive father, husband and grandfather, history buff, sociologist, knife enthusiast and stellar drummer. He also possessed a genuinely kind and loving nature that belied his towering height. He was unendingly steadfast and loyal, a rare and special quality.

Lee dedicated his professional life to serving and advocating for youth that the world forgot - those who were wards of the state, most of whom had behavioral problems and profound trauma histories. His dedication helped and inspired many. Throughout his life, Lee played the drums in various bands, until the pandemic made live performances impossible. He was an ardent fan of rock and folk music from the 60s and 70s, as well as classic bluegrass and country.

Later in life, Lee became interested in antique and rare knives and collectibles. He delighted in the hunt for a truly special find. He had a penchant for the rich life of inanimate objects - the history they possessed and the stories they could tell. He reveled in simple pleasures such as a delicious meal, quality time with family, a great backbeat in a rock n roll song, and a cool Autumn breeze.

His family is heartbroken by this loss. He is survived by his wife Judi Avenatti, his children Chris (Jamie), Davey and Cassandra Avenatti, his grandchildren Sarah, Eli, Alexyss, Davey and Ivy Avenatti, and great-granddaughter Presley, as well as extended family and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his son Patrick Avenatti, and parents Davey Lee and Patricia Avenatti. In lieu of flowers, all are welcome to donate to the charity of your choice in Lee’s name. A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Frist Funeral Home in Clinton.
