Leonard "Leo" Sanquenetti

74, of Clinton passed away Thursday October 28, 2021 at 11:00 at Union Hospital Terre Haute. Leo was the son of Susie (Shannon) and Leo Sanquenetti born of October 15,1947.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law John and Jean Reed; brother, Jerry Sanquenetti; aunts, Helen Shull and Dorothy Keown; uncles, Jesse Shannon, Willard Sanquenetti, and cousin Jack Moretto.

Surviving include former wife and mother of his three children, Carol Sanquenetti; sons, Lenny (Daisy) Sanquenetti, Clate (Tammy) Sanquenetti; daughter, Bonnie (Lloyd) Savalick; grandchildren, Joshua Long, Kaitlynn Sanquenetti, Reed Savalick, Leo Savalick, Chelsie Young, and Austin Brown; aunts, Dorothy Shannon and Mary Lee Sanquenetti; sister-in- law, Sue Sanquenetti, special cousins, Patsy Shannon (who still called lovingly by his childhood nickname “Tookey”), Clifford “June Bug” Shannon, Diana (Sanquenetti) Wright, George Sanquenetti, and many other family and friends.

Leo was a lover of a good joke. He had a knack for making people laugh with his plethora of jokes with a perfectly timed punch line. He was also a lover of food and was an exceptional cook. He loved Chevrolet especially the “oldies but the goodies”. He owned a 64’ Chevy Malibu which was his pride and joy. This vehicle is now owned by his son, Clate.

Leo was a member of Clinton First Baptist, Universal Fire Department for 13 years, and Blandford Sportsman’s Club of which he was vice president for many years. Leo was a graduate of Clinton High School Class of 1968. He worked second shift at Kenley plastic while he finished high school, Hulman and company for 7 years, Universal Town Water superintendent for 10 years, and Hercules/AET for 20 years. Leo was the organizer of the “Has Beens” meeting for Hercules/AET retirees. Leo also enjoyed his time as a driver for friends to Sight Loss Luncheons for the vision impaired.

There will be a private graveside service for family with Dan Tribuzio of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.

 In lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks you enjoy his favorite, a strawberry milkshake, in Leo’s memory. Donations can be made in memory of Leo to Calvary Baptist Church, 917 S. 5th Street Clinton, IN 47842
