Louis F. Hornacky, November 26, 2022
Louie was born January 5, 1952, in East Chicago, Indiana to Nell Jean Hornacky and Louis Rudolph Hornacky. His family moved to Terre Haute, Indiana in 1957 following the sudden death of his father. He graduated from Wiley High School in 1970 and was promptly drafted to serve his country. He was proud to have served in the US Navy (71-74) and the US Naval Reserves (75, 76).
Following his service to his country, he enrolled at Ivy Tech in their welding program. He excelled and traveled the country as a welder, employed by the local iron workers union. In 1984, he accepted a job at Prairie Farms Dairy which would allow him to be home more to raise his son, Joey. He retired in recent years after 34 years as a milkman. He was a leader who respected and worked with the guys and deeply cared about them individually.
Louie enjoyed spending time with family. His favorite past times were watching westerns; and he dearly loved watching his Colts play football, although he remained a Chicago Bears fan as well. Past times also included going fishing with his sons; and everyone knows he loved his Rock and Roll music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Jay Miller, his life-long friend, Wayne Downs, and many others.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Terry Miller-Hornacky; son Louis F. Hornacky, Jr. (AZ), son Joe Hornacky (Libby) and grandchildren—Jack, Lola, Tucker (all of TX), son Sgt. Clayton Hornacky & wife Amberlyn (CO), and son Spencer Hornacky (Terre Haute, IN). Also surviving are his sister Tena Hankins (Richard) and their son Adam (IN); Sister, Anna Maijer (Larry) and their son Ian (GA); and family pets: Finn and Dammit; sisters-in-law Andrea Creech and Rhonda Bond and their families; brother-in-law Don Baize (Roxanne) and their children and families; and mother-in-law Kay Hultgren (Mark). Additionally surviving are several cousins and their families and so many more people.
He will be greatly missed by many, but especially by childhood friend Mike Galloway (Kim) of Terre Haute and the “brother he never had” Steve Chattin (Charlotte) of NC.
Funeral arrangements are in care of Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, IN. Final respects can be made there December 6th from 11-3 with a service to follow. There will be a family service graveside with Taps.
