M. Ilene (Johnson) Hollowell, 94, of Clinton, passed away Sunday morning. She was born August 10, 1920 to Andy M. Johnson and Mamie Johnson in Clinton. She was a retired nurse and spent much of her retirement playing music and singing at local nursing homes as well as volunteering in her community and church. She was an accomplished writer publishing “Anne’s Angel”. She also wrote several short stories and poems.
She was proceeded in death by her two brothers, Jim Johnson and Andy Johnson Jr., both of Clinton. She is survived by her husband Perry Holllowell of Clinton, her sister Martha Osella, two sons, Willie Wyres (Jamie Wyres) of Clinton, and Jim Slater (Linda Slater) of Texas.
She is also survived by granddaughters Autumn Wyres, Summer Wyres and Meghan Bell of Clinton and Cindy Danielson, Angie Walters, and Sharon Fitzgerald, all living in Texas. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 4-8 Wednesday evening at Frist Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 am on Thursday with Reverend Tim Yocum officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.fristfuneralhome.com.
