Mabel J. Pugh, 91, of Terre Haute formerly of Clinton passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

She was born on September 17, 1932, in Clinton to Andrew Gunnoe and Anna Zubeck Gunnoe Pepelea.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather John Pepelea; her husband of 52 years, Bobby Pugh; two sons Robert O. Pugh and Ivan Dale Pugh; one daughter Margaret “Margo” Spears; four brothers Richard Gunnoe, Elmer Bert Gunnoe, Joseph Dewey Gunnoe and Dr. Charles Gunnoe; two sisters Esther Troskey and Anna Mae Spurr and one granddaughter Amanda Pugh.

Mabel is survived by her Daughters Regina Hollars (Chris) of Bradenton, FL., and Brenda Wilson (Fred) of Prairie Creek, IN., her grandchildren Clint Payton (Jennifer), Christen Brazelton, Abigail Spears, Ali Barrett (Kenny), Stephany Moore, Jessica Moore, Danielle Wolfe (Bryant), Bob Pugh (Gina), Michelle Shomler (Todd), Angie Workman (Matt), Fred Wilson III (Traci), John Wilson (Lisa), Jacqie Wilson; Twenty-nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She and her husband Bobby also owned and refurbished the Hillcrest property in Clinton, where the entire Gunnoe families were members for many years. She was ahead of her time by opening an exercise room and spa in the basement there. She was the oldest member of the Presbyterian Church in Clinton and sang in the choir there as well as with the Clinton Italian Singers. She also worked for several years at Hendrich’s Abstract in Terre Haute.

Visitation will be Saturday December 10, 2022, from 10:00 until the service begins at 11:00 a.m. at Frist Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

In Lieu of flower donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church in Clinton in memory of Mabel Pugh.
