Marceda Ann Newton, 84, of St. Bernice, died at 2:55 PM, March 27, 2022, in Hendricks Regional Health Hospital. She was born August 3, 1937, in Orleans, IN to Walter Powers and Nora Frances (Powers) Kinser.
She was a co-owner and bookkeeper of Newton’s service station for many years and was also an assistant manager at Save-A-Lot. She was a member of the St. Bernice American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #108, the Senior Citizens Center in Clinton, and St. Bernice Baptist Church. She loved spending time in her garden and with her family. She also loved crocheting and cooking.
Marceda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jean “Pincher” Newton, granddaughter, Gina Marshall; great-grandson, Von Helsper; son-in-law, Keith R. Helsper; and 12 of her siblings.
She is survived by her children, Ronnie Jean and Kay Newton of St. Bernice, Jerry Ray Newton of St. Bernice, Teresa Helsper of Danville, IN, Marsha and Jim Spencer of St. Bernice, Jerry Michael and Jennifer Newton of Lafayette, David Allen and Linda Newton of Martinsville, IN, Angela Marie and Andrew Supra of Avon, and Michele Ann and Tony Knoderer of Fishers, IN; one brother, Howard Boling of Saltillo, IN; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Public Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00 on Saturday, at Frist Funeral Home, with public services to begin at 12:00 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Thompson, of Connection Pointe Christian Church. There will be a private graveside burial, in Sugar Grove Cemetery, following services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post #108, Senior Citizens Center, St. Bernice Baptist Church, or charity of choice, in Marceda’s name.
