Mary Kathrine (Wolf) Walker 68 passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Mary was born on November 5, 1954, in Terre Haute to John and Marian Wolf. She graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High School in January 1972. On January 22, 1972, she married James (Jim) Walker. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January 2022.
She was employed in the office at JCPenney from 1975 to 1985. She and Jim were owners of the Dana Grocery Store in Dana, Indiana from 1988-1991. She began working at Indiana State University in 1986. She retired after 35 years as the Fiscal Operations Director in March 2021.
Mary and Jim have one daughter. They were charter members of the West Central Indiana Model-T’ers Club. She was also a member of the Model T Ford Club of America. For many years, she and Jim hosted a Covered Bridge Model T tour in Parke County at the end of September. She enjoyed every year that they were able to be there. She loved riding in their Model T’s, the calming waters of the lake when they went on a boat ride, riding in the side-by-side, sitting by a campfire, going out for dinner with friends, watching her granddaughters’ performances, getting iced coffee with her daughter and spending time with all her family. Mary was also a member of the Happy Homemakers Home-Ec Club. Mary was well-liked and respected by her co-workers and friends. She was a strong woman who endured Type 1 Diabetes, Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, and Lewy Body Dementia. She battled all these illnesses with grace and dignity. She will be sorely missed by her miniature schnauzer, April.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, older brother Pat Enright and her mother-in-law Christine Walker and father-in-law James E. Walker.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jim, her beloved daughter Marian and son-in-law Paul Adams; her two granddaughters (who made her so very proud) Morgan Adams and Makenna Adams Benton, and her husband, Caleb. She is also survived by her father, John Wolf, sister Lisa James, brother John P. Wolf, sister-in-law Bess Enright, brother-in-law Timothy Walker, sister-in-law Mary Patterson, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
Per Mary’s wishes, cremation was chosen, and a Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring of 2023.
