Paul Slaven Jr. “Junior,” 94 of Montezuma passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Clinton Gardens.
Paul was born in Fairview, Indiana on August 20, 1931, to Paul and Sadie (Craig) Slaven who precede him in death. Also, preceding Paul is his wife, Phyllis Slaven, and sister Verna Walton.
Paul graduated from Mecca High School and went on to serve in the Army National Guard and the United States Air Force. He married his wife Phyllis in 1952, and they shared 69 years of marriage before her passing in 2021. Paul was a cub scout and boy scout leader for many years and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Paul retired from Tredegar (Ethyl VisQueen) where he worked as a machinist for 42 years.
Surviving Paul are his sons, Steven Slaven (Sara) of Lafayette, IN., and Michael Slaven (Becky) of Paris, IL., daughter, Sharon Miles (Curtis) of Bella Vista, AR., brother, Jim Slaven (Patty) of Rockville, IN., sister, Alice Robertson of Nebraska; special friend Joan Keown of Clinton, IN., grandchildren, Samuel Slaven (Melissa), Isaac Slaven (Barbara), Amber Wilhelm (Jeremy), Nathan Slaven (Cathy), Elizabeth Guilbeau (Chris) and Paul Miles (Olena); 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Frist Funeral Home on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Snyder officiating with military honors prior to the service. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
