Philip Lee Buress, of Clinton, Indiana, passed away at home Saturday, July 2, 2022. He was 83.
Phil was born in Newcastle, Indiana, April 10, 1939, to William Franklin Buress and Evelyn Wilson Buress. He worked for Coca Cola, and Gallo IGA, was the former owner of the Sportsman Center on Crompton Hill, and most recently was a jailer for the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Naomi Buress, the mother of his children Judith Varda Buress, brother James Buress, and sister Patricia Buress Gardner.
Survivors include his wife Deborah Buress; son Joe (Rhonda) Buress of Lyford; daughter Donna (Mike) Hardesty of Lyford; grandsons Jesse (Christina) Hardesty, Andrew (Samantha) Hardesty, Thomas (Tisha) Hardesty, and Daniel (Nichole) Hardesty; great-grandchildren Grace, Emma, Rilee, Annabelle, Elijah, Caroline, Calvin, Jacob, Michael and Ruth Hardesty; sister Jayne (Bob) Kinne of St. Charles, Missouri, and sister JoAnne Buress of Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Phil enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, IU basketball, his family, and his dog Ollie.
Cremation has been chosen and Frist Funeral Home has assisted with those arrangements.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Phil on Sunday, July 10, at 2:30 at Sportland Park in Clinton. All friends and family are welcome and encouraged to attend. Online condolences may be made at www.fristfuneralhome.com.
