Phyllis Aileen Crowder Slaven, 87, of Montezuma, passed away at Core Nursing and Rehab in Bedford, Indiana on Thursday, September 16th, 2021.
She was born July 2nd, 1934, in Lyford, Indiana, to Bill and Gladys Abner Crowder. Phyllis married Paul Slaven Jr. on February 29th, 1952. Phyllis worked as a homemaker and raised her three children, Steven Slaven (Sara) of Lafayette, Indiana, Michael Slaven (Becky) of Paris, Illinois, and Shari Slaven Miles (Curtis) of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. She had six grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Phyllis taught Sunday school and Bible school, worked as a den mother for Pack #476, and often worked with the mentally handicapped in Rockville, Indiana. She also worked as a camp counselor for Lyford Bible Church for several years.
Phyllis was preceded in death by both parents, by three siblings, Raymond Jukes, Owen Crowder, and Sandy Crowder, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Phyllis will be held at Frist Funeral Home on Saturday, September 18th, 2021, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, services at 2:30pm with Pastor Larry Snyder officiating.
