Ronald E. Hines, 76, of Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

He was born in Clinton on February 7, 1947, to Donald Hines and Annabelle O’Briant Hines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rheadon McKillop and his brother Donnie Hines.

Ron is survived by his wife Jill Haskell Hines of Clinton, son Donnie Hines (Tracee) of Clinton, sisters Martha Carty (Mike) of Clinton and Peggy Weyrauch (Ray) of Clinton; brother Randy Hines (Rhonda) of Saint Bernice; grandchildren Austin Hines (Ashley), Aaron Hines (Maggie), Ayden Hines and Ashton Hines; and his great grandchildren Jilliann Hines and Kennedy Hines and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was a graduate of Clinton High School Class of 1965.  He served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. He was a retired Police Chief from the Clinton City Police Department.  He also retired as a guard from the Newport Army Ammunition Plant. Ron was a member of the Saint Bernice American Legion Post 108, Jerusalem Lodge #99, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute and he was a former member of Rangeline Conservation Club (formerly Isaak Walton).

Visitation will be at Frist Funeral Home on Saturday February 25, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Service will follow at 1:00 with Rev. Keith McIntyre officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the service to share food and memories at The Old Freight Depot at 100 South Water St, Clinton.
