Ruth Vernell Guyer Spires of Clinton, Indiana passed away September 27, 2022, at the Gibson Family Hospice Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. Ruth was born to Ira & Alice Guyer on December 2, 1925, in Prairie Township, Illinois. On October 11, 1943, she was married to Dean E. Spires, who preceded her in death on July 19, 2010. Dean’s job took them from Illinois to Indiana & Alabama. In 1969, they moved back home to Indiana where Ruth was later employed at the Associated Physicians & Surgeons (AP&S) Clinic in Terre Haute, retiring at the age of 71.

Ruth was a beautiful lady both inside and out. Playing Bridge and crocheting were some of her interests in younger days, but Ruth’s love of reading followed her from a very young age throughout her life, giving her a superb mastery of the English language. She was known as intelligent, patient, open-minded and kind to others. Her brother, Ira Dean Guyer, preceded her in death (October 8, 2011.)

Ruth is survived by her 3 children Ronda Sadler (Cal) of Oakland, FL; Debbie Forster (Ernie) of Terre Haute, IN; and Greg Spires (Melissa) of Clinton, IN. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren Candon Norton Sadler of Clermont, FL; Tyler Forster of Plainfield, IN; Brittany Karanovich (Scott) of Clinton, IN; and Taylor Ellis (Hunter) of Clinton, IN. Ruth’s surviving great grandchildren are Callon & Caedon Norton, Noah & Olivia Karanovich, and Addison Ellis.

Funeral services will be held October 1, 2022, at Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, IN. The visitation will begin at 1:00PM. Funeral begins at 2:00PM, immediately followed by graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ruth’s name to Gibson Family Hospice Center or Clinton Gardens.
