Sandra McCauley Obituary

Sandra Kay McCauley, 76, of Clinton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born November 14, 1947, in Clinton, Indiana to John and Josephine (Kiger) Dunlop.

Sandy was a 1965 graduate of Clinton High School. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Women’s Auxiliary 887. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau, Philanthropic Sorority for several years before going inactive.

Sandy will be remembered for her sense of humor, contagious smile, and compassionate heart for all whom she met. She enjoyed catering, crafting, and volunteering her time for the betterment of others. Her career was spent in the public sector starting at Kirkman’s Dress Shop, followed by designing flowers at Nannies Nook, then Nancy’s Flowers & Gift Shop. Sandy retired from Union Clinton Hospital after 22 years of service as the front desk receptionist and switchboard operator. In 1996, she earned the Employee of the Year Award from Vermillion County Hospital.

Sandy was most proud of the 34 years and over 20,000 hours spent volunteering for the Hospital Guild, where she served as treasurer and manager of the Gift Shop. She oversaw countless fundraisers as well, all for the betterment of Clinton Union Hospital.

Sandy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Sandy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Don McCauley and three daughters, Lori (Dennis) Freed, Tracy Rippy (Jared Dreher), Kimberly Stevens (Tony Valle, Jr.) all of Clinton. She had six grandchildren, Katelyn Freed Walters (Jericho), Nathan Rippy (Bailey Lawson), Madison Freed, Chloe Rippy (Mason Wiltermood), Payton and Parker Stevens and great grandchildren Kenlee Lawson and Baby Walters due in March. Also surviving is her sister Patty Jo Farrington, brother-in-law Charles “Bud” McCauley, and lifelong friend Moyne Carroll, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and her beloved grand-dog Luca.

Sandy loved deeply and leaves behind many close friends that she considered her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Ernest Pollard.

Visitation will be at Frist Funeral Home on Tuesday February 20, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Service will be at Frist Funeral Home on Wednesday February 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Tribuzio officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sandy’s memory to Hospice of the Wabash Valley for the loving care given by the care team and especially her nurse Brooke Hartman.
