Scott E. Webster Obituary

Scott E. Webster, known as “Poppy” or “Pop” 75, of Clinton, Indiana, passed away on April 10, 2025, surrounded in love at his home.

He was born on July 3, 1949, in Clinton, Indiana to Scott A. and Dorean Webster.

Scott was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda whom he married on July 18, 1970; his children Scott (Tammy Buzzard), Brent (Mara), Bethie Cox (Eric), and Melanie Jackson (Jerimiah); grandchildren Nathan Nicoson (Billie), Hunter (Anna), Randall (Emily), Tanner (Bailey Bell) , Jase Cox (Caledonia Coleman), Lyndlee Cox, Jett and Maddox Jackson; and one great-grandson, Axel Nicoson and special friends, John Walters, Tracy Webster and Shaun Evanson as well as many other friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Randy, sister Darla Hill and brother-in-law Jim Hill.

Scott spent his entire life rooted in the community he loved. After graduating from Clinton Highschool in 1968, he began working at Hercules, a company that would later become AET. Over the years, Scott rose through the ranks to become a supervisor before transitioning to work as a millwright and then retiring. His dedication and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.

An avid outdoorsman, Scott found joy in nature and spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and simply being outside. Whether with a bow during deer season or casting a line into the water on a quiet morning, he cherished every moment outdoors. He took many hunting and fishing trips over the years to various places across the US and Canada. He shared this passion with his children and grandchildren—teaching them not only how to hunt and fish but also how to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation and the value of time spent together.

Poppy’s grandchildren meant the world to him. He loved spending time with them on “the property” and teaching them as much as he could about wildlife and the outdoors. In recent years, watching his youngest grandchildren play basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, softball, track, and cheer filled him with great pride. Of all his roles, it was clear being a grandpa was the one that brought him the greatest joy.

Music was another cornerstone of Scott’s life. A talented guitarist and singer, he often gathered with his children and their friends for lively jam sessions filled with laughter and even a few original songs. These musical moments became treasured memories for all who joined in.

Spending time in the garden with the love of his life, Linda was something that Scott looked forward to every year. He loved the satisfaction of being able to provide his own delicious garden-fresh vegetables for his family and the time that was spent doing so with Linda and many of the kids and grandkids.

Per Scott’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Cremation is scheduled. In honor of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, the next time you’re outdoors take a moment to look around and simply appreciate God’s work and remember Poppy’s favorite Bible verse, “Take your bow and a quiver full of arrows and go out into the open country to hunt some wild game for me.” Genesis 27:3

Poppy will forever hold a cherished and special place in our hearts. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspire others to find joy in nature’s simple gifts.
