Shirley J. Aikman, 83, passed into eternal life on April 27, 2024. She was the daughter of Spencer and Florence Fortune and a 1958 graduate of Dana High School.
Shirley loved making silk flower arrangements and spending time in her flowerbeds. Her flower arrangements were masterpieces and sought after by many. They were always prepared with love. Shirley loved to cook and bake, and her culinary creations were always amazing.
Shirley was an avid golfer and did so through much of her adult life. She had a passion for dogs and had missed her beloved, Sasha, for many years.
Shirley was a passionate shopper and had many shopping buddies. She loved the beach and definitely loved the finer things in life. She was a collector of beautiful things with antiques and carousel horses being her favorites. Shirley Aikman was a classy lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Brian. Shirley is survived by those closest to her--her sister, Judy Holbert (her family); nephew, Ross (Becky) Holbert and their family as well as special cousin, Jimmy Fortune and his daughters Brenda & Candy (Scott and family); and many beloved nieces and nephews; special friends Katie Brewer, Constance Beardsley, and Chris Goetz; her aunt, Esther Stewart, and the staff of Sycamore Manor who have become like family.
Also surviving are two daughters, Felicia Hogue, and Stephanie Sims (Rob), two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Per Shirley’s wishes there will be no services. A donation can be made in memory of Shirley Aikman to the Parke-Vermillion Humane Society (P.O. Box 293, Newport, IN 47966 or through PayPal) or to Hospice of the Wabash Valley www.myhospicevna.org.
