Thad D. Stewart, 88, of Terre Haute passed away on Saturday June 7, 2025, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute.

He was born in Shepardsville, Indiana on August 21, 1936, to Clyde and Elsie Smith Stewart.

Those preceding Thad in death are his parents, his wife Julia, daughters Kathryn Petrin, granddaughters Robyn Blair and Dawnanne Miller, brother-in-law Kenny Peacock and son-in-law Randy Petrin.

Thad retired from Link Belt where he was a machine operator. He loved fishing and he was an avid sports fan. Thad was a huge Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He attended Independent Baptist Church in Montezuma and was a member of the Montezuma Fish & Game Club as well as the Half Century Club and the Eagles #887. Thad lived in Lakeland Florida for many years and truly loved it. He played in numerous bands but most notably Frontiersman. The thing he loved to do most of all was spend time with his family and his grandchildren.

Those left behind to remember Thad are his daughters: Karen (Larry) Jenkins of Rosedale, Kim (Kevin) Ross of Brazil, Tammy (John) Delph of Dugger, and Donna McClain of Terre Haute; sons: Thad (Laura) Stewart of Rochester, Tom (Tari) Stewart of Dana, Chuck (Bobbie) Johnson of Rosedale; his companion Remola Miller of Terre Haute, brothers Clyde “Jay” (Joyce) Stewart of Avon, sister Patricia Peacock of Rockville and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Frist Funeral Home on Thursday June 12, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00p.m. Service at 7:00p.m. with Pastor Keith McIntyre Officiating. Cremation will follow.
