Wendelene (King) Shannon

Wendelene “Wendy” Shannon, 84, formerly of Centenary, passed away at Terre Haute Signature Healthcare on Wednesday, August 1, 2022. 

She was born in Oakland Illinois on June 26, 1938, to Wendell and Dorothy Eldridge King.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Shannon; a son, Curt Shannon; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara (Tony) Avenatti of Clinton and Judy (Brent) Bush of Dana; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Avenatti, Sean Avenatti, Elizabeth Shannon, Guy Switzer, Garreth Abbinett; and several great-grandchildren.

Wendy was formerly a beautician.  She had also worked as a CNA at the local hospital and worked in retail sales.  She enjoyed square dancing in her early years and also bowled in a singles and doubles Bowling League.

Graveside services will be held at Spangler Cemetery on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 1:30 pm.  Rev. Keith McIntyre will officiate and burial will follow at Spangler Cemetery.
